Economic development and redevelopment in the post-hurricane recovery will be featured at the April 11th meeting of the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS). John Talmage, director of the Lee County Economic Development Office (EDO), will lead the discussion. Mr. Talmage will provide a brief overview of local economic trends and an update on resources to sustain and grow local businesses in the economic recovery. Development hot spots and major projects will be discussed, as well as incentives and advantages for investment, development and redevelopment in designated Opportunity Zones. Following the presentation, he will respond to specific questions from the attending real estate and development professionals. John Talmage was appointed director of the Lee County EDO in 2019, having previously worked in economic development in New York City, New Orleans, and Miami. He was also CEO of Social Compact, a research organization serving federal regulatory agencies, local governments and community development organizations around the country. The meeting is sponsored by Maxwell Hendry Simmons, and will begin promptly at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11th in the Osprey Room at Pelican Preserve’s Clubhouse, on Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard, one mile east of I-75 exit 136 in Fort Myers.
