State Representatives Dane Eagle, Matt Caldwell, Ray Rodrigues, and Heather Fitzenhagen will explain new legislation and budget appropriations at the May 12th luncheon meeting of the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS). The Legislators will also address initiatives that failed or are in limbo, with a focus on issues that affect economic development in Southwest Florida. The meeting will be extended from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. to accommodate the agenda. The presentation will include insight on legislative initiatives dealing with water policy, growth management, property rights, flood insurance, and commercial lease taxes. After their presentations, the Representatives will respond to specific questions submitted by the attending real estate development and investment professionals. Representative Eagle has served in the Florida Legislature since 2012 and represents District 77, covering Cape Coral. He is Chair of the Energy & Utilities Subcommittee, vice chair of the Rulemaking Oversight & Repeal Subcommittee, and a member of Economic & Tourism Subcommittee, Regulatory Affairs Committee, Government Appropriations Subcommittee, and Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight. Eagle is a real estate broker, residing in Cape Coral.
Representative Caldwell has served in the Florida Legislature since 2010 and represents District 79, including North Fort Myers and eastern Lee County. He is Chair of the State Affairs Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee, Government Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, Local Government Affairs Subcommittee, and Rules, Calendar & Ethics Committee. Caldwell is a real estate appraiser, residing in North Fort Myers.
Representative Rodrigues has served in the Florida Legislature since 2012 and represents District 76, including Bonita Springs, Estero, South Fort Myers, and the Lee County islands. He is Vice Chair of the Finance & Tax Committee and a member of the Children, Families & Seniors Subcommittee, Energy & Utilities Subcommittee, Higher Education & Workforce Subcommittee, Joint Legislative Auditing Committee, and Regulatory Affairs Committee Rodriguez is a budget manager at Florida Gulf Coast University and resides in Estero.
Representative Fitzenhagen has served in the Florida Legislature since 2012 and represents District 78, covering the metro Fort Myers area. She is a member of the Business & Professions Subcommittee, Economic Affairs Committee, Economic Development & Tourism Subcommittee, Education Appropriations Subcommittee, and Rulemaking Oversight & Repeal Subcommittee. Fitzenhagen is an attorney and resides in Fort Myers. The meeting is sponsored by Waldrop Engineering and will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th in the Osprey Room at Pelican Preserve’s Clubhouse, on Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard, one mile east of I-75 exit 136 in Fort Myers.
